Did this highway contractor do enough to protect his employees?

A 27 year-old man was working on a night-time construction project on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago. In order to protect the workers, plastic construction barrels had been placed by the defendant Contractor in charge of the job, between the area where the man was working and the traffic lane. A drunk driver drove through the barrels and hit our client, fracturing his leg. We sued the contractor because the law required them to place a cement barrier wall, not just barrels, to protect the workers.

Successful Resolution: $700,000

After one week of trial, the case settled.
